Hi, how does a non profit obtain a star rating in GuideStar?
Good Morning Melinda,
Thank you for contacting the GuideStar Community.
From its inception, GuideStar has never used a rating or ranking system to judge nonprofits or the auditing groups they employ. GuideStar's goal as a neutral third party is to help donors make their own judgments based on the public information provided on the Web site. You can, however, earn a GuideStar Level of Transparency Seal for your organization’s GuideStar nonprofit Profile pages. This seal indicates that the nonprofit has updated their nonprofit Profile to a certain level, Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum; to show your organization's commitment to transparency and communicate directly with your stakeholders through GuideStar. Please click on the following link to learn more about updating your organization's profile to earn a GuideStar Level of Transparency Seal: Update Your GuideStar Nonprofit Profile
Please let me know if you need any further assistance or have any other questions.

That’s what I thought but someone from our office noticed that it said “not rated” next to our organizations name when she did a search and I know some organizations have received a 4-star rating but now I’m thinking that she may have been on the Charity Navigator site instead.
Thank you for the info.
