I'll go first!
I'm Jess and I am one of the Development Associates at GuideStar. My main focus is you! - through the GuideStar Membership Program - and managing our grants. I'm originally from Williamsburg, Virginia and, yes, I did dress up in colonial clothes. I can also add professional water balloon maker and forklift driver to my random skills list. I've been with GuideStar since late 2013 and I love connecting with other people dedicated to making the world better.
Out of the office, you'll find me reading, reviewing books from or about underrepresented groups on a blog I run with my friend (and colleague) Anisha, and eating lots of homemade Turkish food.
Right now, my favorite organization is the Office of Letters and Light (also known as NANOWRIMO). They're inspiring people and students all over the world to let their inner writer shine.
I'm looking forward to hearing from you!
Hi! I'm Beth Suarez, GuideStar's Director of Development. We are excited to welcome you to the Foundation Membership Hub on the GuideStar Community. We hope you will use this space to connect with your foundation peers, discuss topics of interest to you, and share ways in which GuideStar can better serve you.
I joined GuideStar in early 2014. I've been in the nonprofit development & fundraising field for 25 years; previous nonprofits include the National Trust for Historic Preservation and PBS. Outside the office, I serve on a couple of local boards, and love to travel and read. Among my favorite organizations is the Girl Scouts (Girl Scout Council of the Nation's Capital). They are doing great work to instill in young women the skills, confidence, and passion that they can do anything.
I look forward to hearing from you, and making this hub a vibrant community for foundation peers.
