I've heard about Simplify, the common profile, and GuideStar's profiles about nonprofits but I'm pretty confused about what it all means. Can you explain?
Simplify and the profile data tools are developed through a partnership of GuideStar and the Technology Affinity Group (TAG) to facilitate information sharing between funders and grantees. Data sharing leverages the GuideStar Exchange; by utilizing the Exchange, nonprofits have one consistent place in which to maintain and share information about their organizations. Simplify allows foundations to pull core information from the Exchange into their grants management platform in order to streamline the process. Learn more about Simplify at www.simplifynow.org.
Four software vendors – Fluxx, MicroEdge, roundCorner, and SmartSimple – have committed to integrating Simplify into their software platforms. If your foundation works with one of these vendors and already has access to Simplify, then you would not need to leverage the Simplify Report/PDF.
Members who do not work with one of these vendors can access a PDF of the grantee’s Simplify information contained in the GuideStar Exchange database using the Simplify Report. Simplify Report will allow your grant team to attach consistently formatted, complete data to every application.
The Simplify Report is a benefit to all who join at the $5,000 or greater Membership level. As always, we encourage you to consult your legal or financial advisor whenreporting the fair market value (FMV) of the Simplify Report ($250) as a benefit.
The common profile is GuideStar's goal - nonprofits will be able to provide all of their data - financial, impact, and programmatic - in one place and share it with GuideStar's network of data partners. This will lead to more effective and efficient grant processes on both the application and grantmaking sides.
