Our non-profit is legally called the "Home Port Alliance for the USS New Jersey, Inc." but we do business as the "Battleship New Jersey Museum and Memorial."
Recently someone set up a Facebook fundraiser for our museum, but they chose the wrong non-profit - the similarly named "Battleship New Jersey Historical Museum Society."
That organization is defunct. The mailing address listed in Guidestar is the home address of a former board member who has since passed away.
I am told Facebook and the Network For Good use Guidestar's data for their nonprofit listings.
Is there a process by which defunct nonprofits can be removed from Guidestar to make sure donations on Facebook go to the right place?
