GuideStar receives all its information directly from the IRS on a monthly basis. Because this information comes from the IRS, we are unable to change or alter this information on your organization's GuideStar profile page.
You may want to contact the IRS to find out when your organization's information will update on the Business Master File from a private to a public charity. You may contact the Nonprofit Division of the IRS for more information at:
(877) 829-5500 (toll-free number). The IRS call center is open 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Eastern Time.
Once the IRS updates the Business Master File, we will receive the update from them and the information will update on your organization's profile page.

Yes, this information is helpful. Do you know whether their master file is
what is considered the "new system"? I have contacted them since our last
determination letter (the attorney filed incorrectly upon our
incorporation). They have updated their system but have informed me that
the changes will not be reflected online for 4-6 weeks. Meaning we have to
wait until then to file our first 990-N. This is sadly holding us back. I
am wondering if Guidestar's use of the business master file refers to their
"new system" or the information accessible online.
