We recently got a letter from the Bank of America that they are closing down our account. We researched why this is happening and came across this article: https://www.civilsociety.co.uk/voices/andrew-o-brien-charities-are-still-walking-on-a-banking-tightrope.html
It seems that because our sanctuary is located in Colombia, even though our nonprofit is registered in the US, the bank is listing us as a high-risk company.
I was wondering if you have any advice on what we can do about this?
We run this non-profit very carefully and use the funds responsibly and this is very inconvenient. It is now the 2nd time this has happened and we need to find a solution to stop this.
