How does GuideStar get the 990 returns? DO we provide that or do you get it from the IRS?
Royal Palm Academy
Good Afternoon Dennis,
Thank you for contacting GuideStar.
Posting Form 990 images is an ongoing process. We receive 990s directly from the IRS. We take the Form 990 images, convert them to PDF's, and upload them onto our site. It takes approximately two months after an organization files its 990 with the IRS for the 990 to appear on GuideStar. However, if it has been longer than two months and it is not listed on GuideStar, we simply have not yet received it from the IRS. We do encourage nonprofit organizations to post their most recent 990s themselves if we have not yet received the official version from the government.
Click on the following link for instructions on uploading your organization's 990 to your GuideStar profile: Upload Forms 990 to Your Nonprofit Profile
Hope this helps. Please let me know if i can be of any further assistance.

That is helpful. So, does the IRS remove the detailed donor information before they release it?

The mission of Royal Palm Academy is to partner with families to provide an education of rich academics with Catholic formation. We teach the mind, educate the heart, and form the character of tomorrow’s leaders.
Schedule B Donor Information on the 990 is masked by the IRS before being released unless the organization is a 501(c)(3) private foundation, 4947(a)(1) non-exempt charitable trust, or 527 political organization. Private foundations and charitable trusts list donor information on Schedule B of Form 990-PF; 527 political organizations list donors on Form 8872. Donor information on 990s filed by other organizations, however, including 501(c)(3) public charities, is confidential. Contributors are listed on Schedule B; when either the IRS or a charity releases that organization's Schedule B, the donors' names and addresses are masked on the copy. Also, as of November 2002, the IRS releases Schedule B only upon specific request.
You can find more information about disclosure requirements on the IRS Web site on p. 77 of the instructions for preparing the 2015 Form 990, http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/i990.pdf.

Thanks again for the explanation. I was having trouble finding it in the IRS materials.
