Hello, we have had several clients ask us to define the GuideStar rating and what it means. Is that still applicable to current Nonprofits and if so, is there any information that I can share with my clients? Thank you in advance!
Good Morning Dmitry,
Thank you for contacting the GuideStar Community.
We are committed to sharing data about the nonprofit sector with the rest of the world. We do this by sharing nonprofit’s 990 forms and sharing the data that nonprofits provide directly to us through the GuideStar Nonprofit Profile. Please click on the following link and scroll down the page to learn more about what is needed to achieve each of the levels of participation (Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum): Update Your GuideStar Nonprofit Profile
Based on research about the kind of information donors are interested in, our GuideStar Nonprofit Profile program has four tiers of participation: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Organizations that share basic information can achieve the Bronze level; sharing financial data can get a nonprofit to the Silver level; and organizations that fully embrace transparency—the heart of our GuideStar Nonprofit Profile program—can share data about their organization’s impact to earn the Gold level. The Platinum level, of course, is the hardest level to achieve.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if you need any further assistance.
