I need to change the categories which are shown above our organization's name, on the main page for our organization. It currently says "Mental Health" and "Crisis Intervention," and I need to delete "Crisis Intervention."
Good Morning Zachary,
Thank you for contacting the GuideStar Community.
In order to remove the categories showing above your organization's name on your GuideStar profile, you will need to update the NTEE Code.
I'm including a link from our Learn How To section of the Community to assist you with updating the NTEE Code: How to Achieve the Bronze Level of Participation - Update Organization Name, Address, Mission Statement, Logo, Staff, Leadership, & Board Members. Once on the page, click on "How to Add Keywords and NTEE Codes.
Our search engine uses the NTEE (National Taxonomy of Exempt Entities) Classification System developed by the National Center for Charitable Statistics as part of its keyword searching criteria. In the past the IRS assigned the initial code for organizations. However this is no longer the case.
If your organization has previously updated the GuideStar Nonprofit Profile, you can add additional, more relevant codes to your GuideStar profile using the “Categorization” section of the GuideStar Nonprofit Profile. Choosing a good, representative NTEE code will help your organization be found more easily by users searching our database. For example, an organization that is coded C27 will come up when someone searches on the keyword "recycling."
To see a list of NTEE codes, visit: National Taxonomy of Exempt Entities (NTEE) Classification System .
Please let us know if you need any further assistance.
