GuideStar will guarantee support of an API for two years after it is released. As a result, the current schedule for API support is:

  1. through January 1, 2015
  2. through January 1, 2015
  3. through January 1, 2015

GuideStar will release new versions as additional data fields are added. The GuideStar APIs are designed to provide a high performance means of accessing GuideStar data. Our focus on improving performance will always be on the most current API version. As a result, earlier versions of the APIs may not be as responsive as the latest version.

There will be a list of release notes outlining how the API has changed. GuideStar expects, but does not warrant, that data elements will not be removed from the result set. GuideStar intends to add new fields to the result set as appropriate. GuideStar will pursue this strategy as much as possible to simplify migrations from an earlier API to a more recent API.

GuideStar recommends that API users migrate to the latest API version in order to optimize the performance of their systems. GuideStar recommends parsing the return result rather than binding the system to a specific schema.
